Fossette Plywood Frame
薄い板を横に曲げると十分な強度を持って自立するように、成形合板も曲げを横向きにして扱うことを考えた。それにより木の曲面が陰影を伴って立体感を増し、フレームが座や天板に沿いながら脚へと形を変えていく様が強調される。端面の成形合板らしい積層は、そうした構造の流れをより印象付けている。
成形合板を扱う向きという1つの要素が、強度という説得力とともに、成形合板を使用したフレーム構造のさらなる可能性を示した。
Bent horizontally, a thin plate comes to stand stably and becomes stronger against a vertical force.
I applied this principle to molded plywoods and made a new structure of a plywood frame whose curves were horizontal. This horizontal curves make the frame stronger against a vertical force. Furthermore, they make the shade on the wooden surfaces more impressive and emphasize the form of the frame.
Changing just one factor, which was a curve's direction, showed a new possibility of plywood frames.
